At Saige Early Learning, we believe that every child deserves to feel valued, respected, and included. Harmony Day, celebrated on 21st March, is a special opportunity to embrace diversity, celebrate different cultures, and promote friendship among children.
What is Harmony Day?
Harmony Day is about inclusivity, respect, and belonging. It’s a time to recognise and celebrate Australia’s multicultural society while teaching children the importance of kindness, acceptance, and understanding.
How We Celebrate Harmony Day at Saige Early Learning
🌏 Learning About Different Cultures
Through books, music, and storytelling, we introduce children to different cultures, traditions, and languages. This helps them develop an appreciation for the diverse world around them.
🎨 Creative and Cultural Activities
Children engage in hands-on activities such as making flags, creating art inspired by different cultures, and exploring traditional crafts. These experiences make learning about diversity fun and meaningful.
🍽 Sharing Food from Different Cultures
Food brings people together! We invite families to share traditional dishes from their cultural backgrounds, allowing children to experience new tastes and learn about different cuisines.
🧡 Wearing Orange for Inclusion
Orange is the colour of Harmony Day, symbolising communication and mutual respect. We encourage children and educators to wear something orange to show their support for inclusivity and unity.
🤝 Building Friendships and Understanding
Through group activities, role-playing, and discussions, we help children understand the importance of kindness, inclusion, and making friends with people from different backgrounds.
By celebrating Harmony Day, we teach children that our differences make us special, and that kindness and respect can create a world where everyone feels they belong. At Saige Early Learning, we are committed to fostering an inclusive, welcoming environment where every child feels valued.
